FINAL post of the year!

Just a quick update on the month as I've managed to put in another 50k hands since my last post.

Had a horrible stretch of around 15k hands where I was on the wrong end of every cooler and ran JJ+ into overpairs too many times to count. So dropped 30BI's during that stretch but managed to grind the majority of that back today thankfully! Going out to celebrate NYE tomorow so today was officially my last session of 2012. Hopefully this time next year I'll be looking over a very different looking graph $$$$$$$$! Finished the month at 1.06bb/100 and with around 1k in rakeback to add to it. Feeling on top of my game and looking forward to my nl100 shot.

Some interesting hands from today.......

Hero (BTN): $25.00
FoxxDan (SB): $12.59
eLPe21 (BB): $10.00
NIKE'87 (UTG): $29.05

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN with K of spades 9 of hearts
3 folds, Hero raises to $1, 1 fold, eLPe21 calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.25) 8 of diamonds 9 of clubs Q of clubs (2 players)
eLPe21 checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($2.25) 3 of diamonds (2 players)
eLPe21 bets $1.93, Hero calls $1.93

River: ($6.11) J of diamonds (2 players)
eLPe21 checks, Hero bets $7.07, eLPe21 calls $7.07 all in

This hand was against a reg. When he bets the turn I put him on air/a 9 as I have history with the player and my check on the flop would induce this kind of bet a lot of the time. When the river hits and he checks to me I figure he's either given up on his bluff or he has weak showdown value (A 9 or a Q). Id never expect him to bet the turn like that with a flush draw and I'd never expect him to check a flush to me on the river. So with that in mind I figured any hands I'm losing to (A9, Q2+) would fold to a shove as I often shove for value on the river (A reg should notice this where the fish don't and still call me light).and I could pick up the pot with a slight overbet a very high percentage of the time (especially as a pair and a ten or a flush draw is well within my range when i flat the turn). When he snapped me on the river I was very surprised but I'm happy to see it as 90% of the time I will actually have it when I shove in this spot.

Actually looking over the rest of my hands from my last session they're all quite standard. Nothing too interesting with the regs. Lots of standard spots vs whales where theyre donating me their whole stack with little or no outs but none worthy to analyse. Hopefully when I start nl100 and nl200 I'll have more interesting hands to share.

Merry Crimbo! New monthly update and 2013 goals!

Hope you've all had a good year and have a good year to come! Basically wanted to briefly sum up the month and set my yearly goals!

This month unfortunately I haven't been able to put in the volume I'd have liked but I have managed almost 85k hands in the last 2 weeks and with a decent 1.09bb/100 EV. Not as nice a graph/results as last month but at nl50 I'll happily take money towards my next shot at nl100 and eventually nl200!

Obviously ran good but its the EV thats all I care about. With rakeback my graph looks like this!...

1500 dollars profit for 2 weeks at nl50 is not to be sniffed at and hopefully next month will be a lot better! After recently moving up to 16 tables I'm comfortably playing 10k hands a day so rakeback is a real boost as long as I can grind out a profit as well! If I can grind out a solid 200k hands next month then rb will be a real bankroll booster. Sooooooo goals.........

January goals
[ ] 200K hands with +EV
[ ] Move up to nl100
[ ] Make improvements on game and put in sufficient study/revision hours

Yearly goals
[ ] Beat nl200
[ ] Hit Supernova
[ ] Make further steps towards playing full time after uni

Got 2 days grinding left before new years just so I can cash in 250 dollars of bonuses then start work on my January Goals! Wishing you all a successful and  fruitful year (as long as you're not making your money from me)!!!

Back to the grind......

Finally after months of slacking off it's time to update my blog! Safe to say things are going A LOT better for me after I put some serious study into my chart package and my own game. After hours of looking over charts and looking at regs betting patterns and styles etc I've successfully built a playstyle that beats NL50 CAP. THANK FUCK FOR THAT! Last month I managed to put in a couple of weeks of really heavy volume (8k+ hands a day) and managed to grind out 3bb/100 over a large sample but unfortunately my HEM broke on me and my hands corrupted somehow. After this happened uni work reared its ugly head again and meant I had to go a few weeks without playing.
Thankfully Ive been able to start playing again this week and after an initial 40k hands of break even (which was a little worrying for sure) I managed this peach of a day today that almost makes up for it.....
Obviously not every day is gonna be this good (9bb/100 EV) but was nice to see I havent lost it in my short break off! So with the arrival of a brand new flashy laptop on the horizon and the very likely scenario that I have FINALLY beat CAP I should be updating my blog a lot more regularly and possibly making a shot at NL100 in the not too distant future!

No hand histories to share for the time being but once I've got my new laptop and HEM2 running I will be posting any interesting hands open for discussion.

Back to Reality....

Safe to say the last week hasn't gone great. Im going to avoid posting too many graphs for the time being to avoid tilt but I can assure you theyre not pretty. Slowly making the move from NL50 to NL100 over the next few days. Less ATC calls and people who call raises with 90% of their range makes me feel a lot more comfortable putting people on hands and therefore easier to value bet, slowplay, 3bet for value, 3bet bluff etc.

Started filming some videos of NL100 for my coaching site (shortstackrevolution) and a few guys i discuss strat with online and todays session has been a real rollercoaster.....
Obviously ran really bad but my EV line is a beaut and managed 4.61bb/100 (granted only over 4k hands but its still positive)

I know I've got a hell of a long way to go until I'm crushing or feel fully comfortable at NL100 but thoroughly enjoyed todays session and here are a few interesting hands from today......

Intros.....

I've been playing poker for about 4 years now and seriously for the last year. I recently decided to make a switch from SNGs and MTTs to CAP cash games as with university, gym and general socializing I need slightly more workable hours (12 hour mtt sessions were really taking their toll).
Ive now been playing NL50 CAP cash for about 3 maybe 4 weeks but I'm going to start this blog with recent results and try update it as often as possible. I did terribly in my first couple of weeks barely breaking even with rakeback but things are beginning to look a lot brighter. Ive now invested in a couple of shortstack coaching packages aswell as paying for coaching lessons with an ex pro and I also discuss a lot of strategy with another player in Liverpool. With some serious revision and a couple of sweat sessions with my coach my results have just started to perk up and here is yesterdays first grind playing my new strat.
This was the first session for me where Ive had consistant and impressive EV and I woke up this morning more eager than ever to put in a grind. I actually started today dreadfully making some silly calls and generally playing a lot looser/more spewy than I ever should. But I reminded myself not to get back into old habits (such as minning AJ or small pairs and calling off shoves hoping for the flip) and eventually I managed to grind my graph back into a peach! Obviously been running way below EV but EV is all I care about for the moment. It'll sort itself out eventually!! Heres the todays session......
So overall my month is currently looking like this.!!!
I am annoyed with myself for playing bad at the start of todays session as my stats would be a lot more impressive but as it stands over my first 10k hands of the month I'm running at an EV of 2.94bb/100.  AIEV 53.3%.  Average preflop AIEV 53.7%.  Average flop AIEV 54.6%.  Average turn AIEV 50%.

ROLL ON TOMOROW!!
